2nd shooting & behind the scenes #1 | married!
This past weekend, Randy and I had the opportunity to do something a little out of the ordinary. A while back, my friend Jon had asked if I could second shoot with him on a friend’s wedding. I of course said I would, anticipating Randy would enjoy a Saturday of silk-screening in the garage. Well, late Friday evening, Randy spotted a tweet from Mark Brooke saying they needed a second shooter for a wedding the next day. Before you knew it, Randy was prepping his gear! Neither of us had shot weddings separately in a long time, so it was fun to share the day’s stories when we got home :) It was also strange being a second shooter again! When Randy and I shoot our weddings, we tend to tag-team – he sets up one shot, I’ll set up another, and we end up taking turns as first and second shooters. Keeps things interesting. We end up trading cameras back and forth, depending on the required lens. But second shooting is always fun because you’re able to get interesting angles that maybe the fist shooter hadn’t anticipated. It’s a great opportunity to get close ups too. And shooting with other photographers is always fun because everyone has their own process. Having followed Mark Brooke’s blog for so long, Randy was really stoked to get to meet Mark and to get to work with him. We hope to see more of them in the future… or should I say hopefully I’ll get to meet them in the near future :)
And now for some random shots of Randy and I at work. We’ve accumulated quite the collection of shots of us working, so I thought I’d share a few this week.
There are some awesome weddings headed your way. We’re still digging our way through them, but we can’t wait to share! Stay tuned!
