art & big abstractions

Ok, enough with the sketches and paintings. It’s photography time. Well… sort of. From what I recall, I’m pretty sure Randy put me up to this series of work. In an effort to pull myself away from portraits, I decided to go to the extreme opposite and try photographic abstractions. I wanted to photograph something rooted in the mundane that would become visually sublime. So after walking around The Huntington Library with my friend Tiffany for a couple of hours, I ended up with these. There are eight separate photographs that were printed 7 feet by 3 feet, and mounted side by side. I had never worked big before, so it was a very new experience!
